zoo

We took a trip to our local zoo to get some uses out of our zoo passes.  We braved the heat with the animals and had a great time despite the heat.
Every time the girls see these animals they always remember our trip through the drive-through-zoo.  I'm not sure how much they remember or remember seeing the video, but it always reminds me too.  We were so scared they were going to scratch our car with their horns.

As always the goats were a favorite of the girls.
Reese looks like a real hair dresser...in deep conversation with her client.

Guess I was having too much fun...I forgot to even get my camera out until we were almost finished at the zoo.  Oh well.  We'll be back!

indiana dunes national lakeshore

This past weekend we headed back to another of our favorite campgrounds, Indiana Dunes National Lakeshore.  It rained a bit on our way there so we were a bit worried, but kept on going.  Thankfully the rain had ended just as we pulled in to the campground and we were able to get set up without getting soaked.  As soon as we were set up we were off on our first (of many) bike rides.
This time we headed to the Nature Center.
My little scientists (especially Presley) LOVED this.
Then back to our site.  We had a playground right at the back of our camper which made it nice for us.  We could sit out and see the girls from our lot.

A.Hildy joined us after work and we headed to Bass Pro Shop for dinner and shopping.

And a little game time too.

The next morning we took another bike ride...this time to the beach.  We noticed how quickly the beach was filling up and decided to head back to get our stuff.  We decided since we were so close we would just walk back to the beach...thinking it would be a piece of cake.  Hmm...that sand dune didn't look as big as it felt climbing up it.  It sure made me notice how out of shape I am.  : )  But thankfully we all made it.
We were lucky that the overcast skies burned away to reveal the beautiful sunshine just as we set up our chairs.

The 2 older girls decided they wanted to give the dunes a few more shots.  Crazy!

Presley drew A.Hildy's portrait.
Another great camping weekend in the books...

pool playdate - cousin style

Last week we found a perfect day for a cousin playdate - pool style.
Picked up some Chick-fil-a for a picnic lunch and then the rest of the day was filled with fun pool times.
It was HOT so we spent pretty much didn't leave the pool all afternoon...unless for snack breaks. ; )

We love cousins!

waffle farms

This is our 2nd year going to Waffle Farms Campground.  Last year we went with my side of the family and this year we went with Chad's side.  We had great weather all weekend.  Friday we headed up early afternoon and were able to secure 2 lake front sites.  Perfect.  While we were setting up I glanced over and  caught Presley down by the lake with her feet propped up reading.  : )
 Ruby Rose aka Campin' Dog.
Addison was busy working on her masterpiece.
While Reese had a hard time "only going in to her ankles".  Somehow her shorts kept getting wet...must've been some pretty big waves. ; )
This was our view right outside our door.  I could seriously get used to waking up and having my coffee looking out at this view every morning.
We hit up the playground after getting set up and taking a walk.

The girls spent lots of time wading in the lake.
And cousin Gabi taught the girls how to skip rocks.  They practiced a LOT!
And of course there was plenty of time for fishing.  The girls (especially Presley) are really getting in to fishing and getting the hang of it.

Cousin Tyler convinced Reese to give her fishy a kiss.

Aunt Cindy was nice enough to help Addy catch her fish.
 And Gabi helped Pres.
Early on Saturday we picked up the pontoon we had rented for a day and headed out for a day of fun on the lake.

Uncle Kenny (and Aunt Sharon), Uncle Rusty (and Aunt Julie) also met us up there with their boats so we had a caravan of 3 boats.  Plus Mawmaw and Pawpaw joined us on the pontoon.  Lots of tubing fun for the girls.
Uncle Rusty (and Uncle Kenny and Mawmaw) showed they still have their skiing skills.  I was impressed!
 Hands up Add!
 Woohoo!

 Reese was so brave!

 Lots of swimming time too!
 High-fives for Tyler!
 Show-off's.  ; )
After our day on the lake we came back to the campsites and had a big cook-out and enjoyed our time telling stories around the campfire.
